Prince Po is a brave and courageous cinnamon roll. When we are introduced to Po, he's on a quest to find his missing grandfather. He befriends Katsa, who is not necessarily an easy friend to make, and generously sees past her brash actions to the heart behind them. Even though he's slow to reveal his secrets to Katsa, I think his reasons were understandable. When he and Katsa become romantically entangled, he isn't interested in fulfilling some marital duty - he wants Katsa because he enjoys his time with her. He truly views Katsa as a partner, and listens to Katsa's feelings on marriage and having children, agreeing that they would take their relationship as it came. And after all this, Po willingly sacrifices himself to save his young niece who he's never met.
